Charity Matters

The dictionary defines charity as “provision of help: the voluntary provision of money, materials, or help to people in need.”  Ultimately it is an act of kindness. It allows people who are very fortunate to help those who are less fortunate. Most people’s toughest daily decision is what they are going to wear the next day or what they are going to eat for dinner. But there are some people in the world who only have the clothes on their back and don’t know if they will even get to eat dinner. Charity can change this. It can mean giving someone a few bucks, or giving him or her a place to stay. Yes, there are some people in the world who are too proud to receive charity and think that it is a way for rich people to show off how much money they have, but that is not always the case. Charity is usually an act of the heart.
There are many different charities that have been created and that help people daily. There is also a very wide range of charities. There are charities that help fight poverty, care for orphans, and even promote breast cancer research and that is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m sure that there has already been a charity created for any issue imaginable. There are large charities that function throughout the world, and there are community charities that only focus on the needs of people within a community. These types of charities are very important because in most cases donors know the person they are helping, and this makes it even more special. This just goes to show how many good people there really are in the world. I am positive that the world would not be near as good of a place without kind people giving charity.   - Hannah Palmer

  1. I agree that charity does matter. I donate to charities and volunteer to help charities out as much as possible. There are several people out there who are not as fortunate as a lot of people. I believe we should help the less fortunate and that is what charities do. A lot of charities were created for different reasons, some help just one person, some help a group of people and some help businesses. They are all great charities and organizations. A lot of people do donate to charities, but many more could.

  2. I agree that charity does matter. It gives people a chance to help others when they may not know how to help them otherwise. Many of our take for granted the things that we receive everyday, like fresh food, a place to live, and so on, when there are some who would love to know that they have a warm meal waiting for them. With charities, people who donate can make that actually happen for someone. So yes, charities do matter.

  3. I agree with this blog post. Charity does matter. It plays a huge role in today's society. Think of the world without Charity. It would be such a sad place where millions of kids go hungry, without clothes, and also without shelter. Many people strive to be charity members. I know when I get older that I want to contribute tremendously to charity. I can't imagine a child or family go without on my watch. If there is something we can do about it then we should do it.

  4. Charity is a great thing for many reasons. Not only does it help those who are in need, but it also unifies us. With the many disasters that have affected our world such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and the attacks on 9/11, people from all over the world came together to help their fellow man. Charity really brings out the best in people and reminds us that we are not alone.

  5. Charity is such a awesome thing to see in todays world! While there is so much pain and suffering charity helps to give everyone a glimpse of hope and joy. Charity not only helps the people giving to the less fortunate but it also helps the less fortunate to feel joy and a sense of peace.

  6. I firmly believe that charity matters. While the government does what it can to provide for the people who need it, and some who don't, people cannot simply rely on the government to solve all their problems. That is where charity plays a huge role. With the April 27th tornadoes people showed charitable ways like I have never seen. So many people were affected by the storms; and charity of random strangers helped get the people who lost homes back in new ones as quickly as possible.

  7. There is no uncertainty that charity matters. We only have one life to live. What if a big or small service could impact someone else’s life? It could be something as simple as helping an old lady across the street. “No one has ever become poor by giving.” -Anne Frank. It is important to pay if forward.

  8. Charity is definitely an important social aspect. As you said, it allows people who to help those who are less fortunate than themselves. Making donations to charities can make a person feel better about themselves, making them realize how fortunate they are and knowing that they are helping people who genuinely need it.

  9. Charity matters so much to society. There will always be those less fortunate than ourselves and it is our duty as fellow human-beings to ensure our brothers are taken care of. We have an over abundance of basic neccessities and materials needed to ensure our fellow humans will not go hungry or untreated from disease. Charity matters to making this world a better place for all people.

  10. Charity matters significantly. It makes a big difference in the world. People who are less fortunate need all the help they can get. Unfortunately some people only give to the needy to have their names fill up newspapers. Its sad, but some want to gain poopularity out of giving money to those in need.
