Security Matters

Security is a vital part of society.  A feeling of security helps people function productively in their social roles and eliminates chaos.  Life is too valuable to spend living in the terror that it could end at any moment.  On September 11th of 2001, the feeling of security in the United States was shattered by the hands of a radical jihadist group as thousands of innocent citizens were killed by the destruction of the World Trade Center and Pentagon building.  Our government, in retaliation, quickly took action to ensure its people would not have to live in fear of such violent attacks.   Since the terrorist attacks on 9/11, national security in the United States has been greatly increased to both prevent similar events from occurring and to give the citizens of our country a sense of safety and well being as they attempt to carry on with their lives in an unstable world.  The United States, in partnership with many like-minded nations, has deployed thousands of our bravest and finest men overseas to combat the threat of worldwide terrorism and to help make the world a more secure place.  We have also strived to ensure the safety of our nation by improving the security in airports and other forms of public transportation.  The actions of the government against terrorism have made it possible to live without the constant threat of death or persecution looming around every corner, but the fight for security has not ended.  It is our duty as human beings to support the effort to bring the feeling of security we have come to know to the rest of the world and to help ensure that all the inhabitants of the world can live in safety and without fear.  Security matters.  -Dalton Williams

  1. I strongly agree with this statement. Security in the U.S. is what makes our lives as American citizens less worrisome. The U.S. government does a good job of making sure the U.S. and its citizens are constantly protected. I also agree with the statement "it is our duty as human beings to support the effort to bring the feeling of security" because with out the support of the people it would make security and peace more difficult not only in the U.S. but in the world as well.

  2. Security is a huge factor in our society. Everyday someone is being broken into. Here lately there have been a ton of break ins. People really need a security system in their homes. I have a security system and installed cameras throughout the outside of my house. I feel so much more safe with them. They really do help.

  3. I completely agree with this blog post. Security is a big factor in our society today. Since the 9-11 attack, peoples sense of security has been took away from them. That’s the day most people changed their minds about being “safe” and “secured”. Like you said it is our duty to bring back the feeling of security.

  4. Security is an essential part of life. Without a sense of security, people would live in fear every day of unseen threats. Our government has made tremendous strides in increasing our security against the threat of terrorism; both overseas and domestic. The increased security implemented after 9/11 are part of what helped the nation bounce back after the tragedy.

  5. I agree, security defiantly matters. We need to feel safe wherever we go, even though it isn't really like that.Without some since of security we would all live in constant fear, and nobody really wants to do that.

  6. I agree that Security is an important factor in our society. Without it people couldn't just walk outside, hop in the car, and go wherever they please. 9/11 attacks, the war and random outbreaks in society teach us that we are very lucky to have those men and women across seas defending us and our freedom. I'm sure most people feel secure in their everyday lives.

  7. I agree that security matters. When people do not feel secure they act rashly. Fear causes panic and panic results in chaos. Many people kill and are killed because they fear what might happen next. After 9/11 no one in America felt completely safe anymore. Now thanks to government security precautions, we all sleep soundly at night and do not fear daily life.

  8. Security matters whether in finances, property, or your own life. Following September 11, 2001, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was created to strengthen the security of the nation’s transportation systems and ensure the accessibility of transportation and commerce. My dad works for this organization and he makes certain that all flights are safe. I love the fact that I know that airlines are being protected every day.

  9. I completely agree that security matters to not only the safety of the United States as a whole, but the safety of individual people. While we have the military to protect us from terrorists and any invaders, we also have the police force to make sure that communities are safe.

  10. I definitely agree that security matters. You're right, living in fear all the time is a horrible way to live life. What happened on 9/11 was definitely a wake up call for America. Americans take security so seriously because it is so important. I'm so thankful to have such wonderful soldiers fighting for this country! It's such a relief to know that I can get on an airplane and trust that I am in good hands. Security matters and this country would suffer greatly without it.

  11. I agree completely. The tragedies that occurred on September 11th are going to be in the minds of Americans for decades. The feeling of security is why many people immigrate to America. I think America handled the 9/11 attacks about as well as they possibly could. Boosting the security in America was well needed even before the attacks.
